Lady with Pockets

Lady with Pockets. 2017. Performance in Sioux Falls, SD.
You’ve seen the Fiji Mermaid and the human blockhead before, but be prepared to be amazed and witness the Lady with Pockets! Watch as she transforms ordinary women’s dresses and pants to functioning clothing with pockets before your very eyes! Most women’s clothing usually lacks pockets or the pockets are so small they are useless. Women have been frustrated by this problem since before they were allowed to vote, which suffragist Alice Duer Miller addressed when she wrote “Why we Oppose Pockets for Women” for her satirical book Are Women People? Once inside the tent, viewers witnessed the lady transform gendered clothing into something useful.
