Feral Housewife: Thunderdomesticity Costume Workshop
Join artist Klaire Lockheart for a fun and interactive costume-making workshop on Sunday, March 13th from 3:00-4:00 pm CST. This workshop is hosted by the Vermillion Area Arts Council and will take place via Zoom. Klaire will guide participants through the steps of distressing and repairing fabric to create an original post-apocalyptic Thunderdomesticity costume. No sewing skills are required because Klaire will help you learn how to create a one-of-a-kind costume that looks perfect for the post-apocalypse.
Cost is $20 for non-VAAC members, and $10 for VAAC members. Participants will be invited to wear their costumes to the Thunderdomesticity Party on Saturday, March 19th at the Vermillion Area Arts Council.

Materials
Participants will need to supply their own materials for this virtual workshop. New clothing and supplies are not required, and Klaire recommends that you dig around in the back of your closet, visit your local thrift shop, and ask your friends if they have any of the supplies on hand. Your dress doesn’t need to be an actual vintage dress; a contemporary replica will work perfectly. Think of the archetypical 1950s American sitcom mom wardrobe. The dress should be modest, not low-cut, and about knee-length. The skirt should be puffy enough to allow for movement. If you don’t have a dress or are nervous about distressing one, an apron will be the perfect accessory to modify first.
Required Materials:

Sewing scissors
Seam ripper
Pins
Cheap acrylic paint (red, brown, and/or black)
Suggested materials:
Sewing machine
Thimble
Pliers
Rivets, chains, patches, and other post-apocalyptic accessories.
