Over 50 amazing artists from across the country joined together to share their dystopian artwork in the Thunderdomesticity: Witness Me exhibition, which opens Final Friday, May 30th at No. 7 Center Gallery (the Fotolab No. 7 building), 7 Center Street, Vermillion, SD from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The opening art reception is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to dress up for the post-apocalyptic theme as they experience the epic artwork, enjoy light snacks, and meet some of the incredible artists. The exhibition is hosted by the Packard Group, LLC. The entire show is also available to view on the Packard Group’s website: https://www.packardgroupllc.com/exhibitions/witness-me
Klaire Lockheart, host of the Femininity in the Post-Apocalypse podcast, was thrilled to serve as juror for Thunderdomesticity: Witness Me. She was delighted to select 75 works of art to share in this unconventional exhibition, which will be displayed outdoors. To make this outside exhibition possible, Aaron C Packard from the Packard Group created professional prints of all the selected artwork. Next, Lockheart used a wheat-paste technique to glue the wonderful images to the exterior north wall at No. 7 Center Gallery, facing Vermillion’s City Hall. This wheat-paste installation will be publicly accessible May 30th through July 25th, and it will change over time. Wheat-pasting is a temporary installation technique, which means these prints will degrade due to the harsh and unpredictable weather in South Dakota. Finally, the prints will be destroyed in the removal process after the show ends. This is a big group exhibition, and Lockheart is proud to bring together this diverse group of artists. Lockheart stated, “One of my goals is to bring as many epic artists as I can to our community. Because this is a stressful time, it’s important for us to come together and support each other.” The thought-provoking artists who contributed to Thunderdomesticity: Witness Me include: Abbie Graham, Angelina Blaise Uy, Aziza Afzal, Bethany Altschwager, Bill Stamats, Caitlin Lang, Cami Applequist, Cassandra Blackwood, Dearest Kim, Deborah Goalby, Emily Berens, Emily Lehman, Eric Zuccola, Francine Fox, Grant Ekroth, Ira Upin, Jay Albin, Jessica Schulman, Joan Logue, Julie Dent, Julie Russell-Steuart, Katiana Shovelain, Kaylie Nelson, Korey Luna, Krissa Gaines, Kristina L Jager, Lacey Eidem, Larissa, Laura Wennstrom, Lauren Gouin, Lauren Haynes, Louise Leathers, Mary Younkin, Mikha "Mikhamik" Dominguez, Moira (Miri) Villiard, Nicole Houff, Nicole Riemenschneider, Pamela Sherlock, Patrick Civiello, Phyllis W Packard, Rebecca Bowers, Rhonda Urdang, Rosemary Buchmann, Sandra Cavanagh, Sarah Bork, Sasha Phillips, Skyla Mae, Teresa Lind, Thalia Berard, Thea Fisher, Theo Gins, and Tiffany Beutler.
