If you’ve always wanted to start oil painting but never had the chance, or if you thought oil painting might be too difficult to try, allow me to peer-pressure you into painting with me. All the cool kids are doing it! Take this opportunity to follow along step-by-step as I guide you through a practice sketch of a simple figure painting. I’ll demonstrate the process I used when I planned the paintings I created for the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. With guidance, you’ll tone a canvas, mix paint, and match colors while developing safe studio habits. You’ll practice a general-to-specific painting technique, which is perfect for creating successful sketches that are reminiscent of Impressionist style art. With additional one-on-one attention, you’ll use your skills to create an original oil sketch based on a photograph you bring to the workshop.
